Terms of Service
These Terms are the agreement between you and Paste for using the Paste macOS app. They are written to be readable. If anything is unclear, email us.
1. Agreement
- By downloading, installing, or using Paste, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy.
- If you do not agree, do not install or use the app. Uninstall it to stop using it.
2. Your License
- We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Paste on Macs you own or control.
- You may not copy, redistribute, resell, sublicense, decompile, or reverse-engineer the app, except to the extent the law expressly permits.
3. System Permissions You Grant
Paste only works because macOS grants it specific capabilities. You are responsible for managing those:
- Pasteboard access: required to detect copies. Without it, history can't be captured.
- Global hotkey: optional, lets you open Paste with a keyboard shortcut.
- Launch at login: optional, lets Paste start with your Mac.
You can revoke any optional permission at any time in System Settings. Paste may not function as described if you do.
4. Purchases and Subscriptions
- Paste may offer one-time purchases or auto-renewing subscriptions. Prices and billing periods are shown in the app before you buy.
- All purchases are handled by Apple through your Apple ID. Apple charges your payment method, manages renewals, and handles refunds under Apple's refund policy.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel in App Store → your name → Subscriptions.
- We do not see your payment details.
5. Acceptable Use
- Use Paste for its intended purpose: capturing, browsing, and re-using your own clipboard history on your own Mac.
- Do not attempt to bypass licensing, tamper with the app's binaries, or use Paste in a way that violates applicable law.
- Do not interfere with Paste's operation on devices you don't own or control.
6. Updates, Changes, and Availability
- We may add, change, or remove features as the app evolves.
- We may release updates that require macOS updates or new permissions. If we do, the update notes will say so.
- We aim for a reliable app but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, especially when Apple changes the underlying system APIs Paste relies on (NSPasteboard, Vision).
7. Your Data
How Paste handles data is covered in the Privacy Policy. In short: clipboard contents stay on your Mac, and we receive only anonymous diagnostics and any support correspondence you send us.
8. Intellectual Property
- The Paste app, name, logo, website, and underlying code are owned by Kester Atakere and protected by intellectual property laws.
- Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of the app or its assets to you.
9. Termination
- You can stop using Paste at any time by uninstalling it.
- We may suspend or terminate access if you materially violate these Terms, with notice where reasonable.
- Sections about intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law survive termination.
10. Disclaimer
Paste is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or that the app will be uninterrupted, accurate, or error-free. You are responsible for backing up anything you can't afford to lose; do not rely solely on Paste's clipboard history as a permanent store.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kester Atakere is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or clipboard entries, arising from your use of Paste. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the app will not exceed the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim.
12. Apple-Specific Terms
- These Terms are between you and Kester Atakere, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Paste or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide support for Paste. Any warranty claims you raise should be sent to us at hello@kester.work.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
13. Changes To These Terms
We may update these Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when. Material changes will be highlighted in-app or on this page. Continued use after the change means you accept the new Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Nigeria, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
